Heart Rate Training

A great way to train towards your fitness goal is to work at a target heart rate based on your age and the training target you have set.

Using a heart rate monitor will ensure:

  • That your training is not to easy or that you don’t overtrain
  • You are training at the correct exertion level for your fitness goal
  • Each session gets you results
  • Your workout is based on a percentage of your maximum heart rate

How do I get my maximum heart rate?

To calculate your maximum heart rate (MHR) = 220 – your age

For example if you are 29 years old, your MHR would be 191

Use the below table to identify your target training level and recommended heart rate zone.
